FAQs for NightTime blue light blocking glasses

SPV NightTime glasses have been designed based on scientific principles to help reduce the impact of artificial nighttime light on sleep and circadian rhythm.

Unlike many conventional blue-light blocking glasses that only filter part of the blue spectrum, our lenses:

  • block 100% of blue and green light up to 540 nm,
  • significantly reduce green light between 540 and 570 nm,
  • and lower the overall brightness entering the eyes at night.

This helps your body recognize that it is time to rest and creates a more sleep-friendly environment.

In addition, we use high-quality lenses with advanced coatings:

  • scratch-resistant,
  • anti-reflective,
  • and designed for better comfort and durability.

Wearing NightTime glasses at night may help you:

  • sleep better,
  • fall asleep more easily,
  • reduce nighttime eye strain,
  • lessen the impact of screens and LED lighting,
  • support better physical and mental recovery.

By reducing exposure to inappropriate artificial light at night, you help your body maintain a more stable circadian rhythm.

Yes. We offer NightTime glasses:

  • without prescription, and
  • with reading magnification:
    +0.5 / +1 / +1.5 / +2 / +2.5 / +3 / +3.5 / +4

All our lenses are made from high-quality CR-39 optical resin.

This material provides:

  • better visual clarity,
  • less distortion,
  • greater comfort for extended wear.

The blue and green light we aim to reduce is found in the short-wavelength range of the visible spectrum.

To effectively filter these wavelengths, the lens material must use a tint from the opposite end of the spectrum, in this case, orange/red.

That is why the lens color is not just aesthetic: it is essential to its effectiveness.

These glasses are designed exclusively for NightTime use, especially:

  • after sunset,
  • while using screens,
  • under LED or fluorescent lighting,
  • indoors with artificial light.

We do not recommend using them during the day.

During the day, we need exposure to natural light (including some blue light) to:

  • stay alert,
  • support mood,
  • properly regulate circadian rhythm.

If you are exposed to screens or strong artificial light during the day, we recommend our DayTime glasses.

NightTime exposure to blue- and green-rich artificial light can:

  • interfere with the body’s nighttime biological signals,
  • make it harder to fall asleep,
  • affect sleep quality.

By reducing this exposure, NightTime glasses:

  • support more natural rest,
  • help you relax,
  • and make it easier to transition into sleep.

Under normal conditions of use, NightTime lenses:

  • block 100% of visible blue light, and
  • significantly reduce short-wavelength green light.

No.

NightTime glasses are not designed for driving or operating machinery.

Because they filter a large portion of blue and green light, they:

  • reduce perceived brightness,
  • alter color perception,
  • may lower reaction time.

Think of it like a leaking pipe: even if you block part of the flow, if there is a leak, unwanted water still gets through.

The same applies to glasses: if unwanted wavelengths still pass through, they may continue to affect sleep and circadian signaling.

SPV NightTime lenses have been developed to:

  • minimize light leakage as much as possible,
  • provide more uniform filtering,
  • improve protection against artificial nighttime light.
